Black Drop Coffeehouse’s Annual Water Balloon Fight Grows. The fifth annual zombie themed water balloon fight organized by the downtown coffeehouse is scheduled for this weekend, and it looks to be the largest yet. Maritime Heritage Park plays host, and drop-ins are encouraged.
We Have a Photo Competition Winner! The City of Bellingham will recognize six photographers for their work in this year’s Essence of Bellingham Photo Competition. AJ Barse took Best of Show honors with his piece, Welcome to 48* North by 122* West.
Jobless Rate, Whatcom County’s Lowest in Six Years. In Wednesday’s Bellingham Herald, David Gallagher reported that strong growth in construction and transportation contributed to the best jobs report Whatcom County has received since pre-recession 2008.
Second Kulshan Brewing Location Coming Soon. Three years of steady growth left this local favorite looking for a place to expand. Kulshan’s second location at 1538 Kentucky St. will include production brewery and a taproom with seating for 120. Barring any construction hiccups, the second location is scheduled to open in early 2016.
Barlean’s Fishery Adding a Food Truck. In July we’ll all have a new favorite spot for fish and chips. Barlean’s fishery plans to open a food truck that will serve lunch at its Slater Road location. A retail shop focused on local beer and wine will follow sometime later.
