Bellingham’s food landscape has many great vegetarian options. Here are some notables.
Culture Cafe—In January Bellingham’s Kombucha brewery, Kombucha Town, opened this restaurant in the Herald Building. Not only is the menu a whopping 64% vegetarian but it is also chock-full of fresh local ingredients, house-made vegetable patties, and kombucha infused creations. Their Bahn MI Panini with a side of Cascadian Salad and K-Town’s Blueberry Kombucha vinaigrette is satisfying and delicious. The Culture Cafe also has fantastic cocktails and happy hour food.
Old Town Cafe—Though it’s known for is big carb-loaded breakfasts and hearty lunches, this classic joint has a wide selection of vegetarian dishes too. They serve tasty, wholesome, locally-sourced meals during breakfast and lunch. Try the Biscuits and Gravy topped with creamy mushroom-tahini gravy.
Simmering Tava—You might know it as the indian food at the farmer’s market, but after acquiring a new trailer last year, Simmering Tava is appearing more frequently in Bellingham’s favorite food truck spots. Judges at last year’s Bite of Bellingham gave top marks to their Veggie Fritters.
Leaf and Ladle—This State Street favorite rotates its menu often, but there are always a number of excellent vegan and vegetarian options including wraps, sandwiches, soups, and salads.
Aslan Brewing—Most of Bellingham’s taprooms offer some respectable vegetarian options, but Aslan’s Black Bean Burger is the first among peers.
