Washington’s State Parks will be free for everyone—no discover pass required—on two different days in March.

There are many wonderful State parks in and around Bellingham. Larabee State Park is probably the most well known, but don’t forget about Birch Bay State Park or Deception Pass State Park.

Parking at any of these places usually requires the modestly priced Discover Pass—just $10 for a day or $30 for the year. But every so often, the State of Washington decides to waive the Discover Pass requirement to celebrate special occasions like:

March 19: State Parks’ 103rd birthday

March 26: Saturday Spring Day

April 22: Earth Day

May 8: Sunday Spring Day

June 4: National Trails Day

June 11: National Get Outdoors Day

August 25: National Park Service Birthday

September 24: National Public Lands Day

November 11: Veterans Day

So pick one of these dates and go explore a new park for free!
