Creative teams wrangled huge piles of scrap metal into pieces of fine art this weekend at Bellingham Technical College’s 14th annual Welding Rodeo. The theme was fire & ice.
Teams of four scrambled at the starting horn Friday morning to construct something that would inspire awe and make smart use of their 300 lb. block of ice.
Individual skills challenges, a hands-on welding welding booth, blacksmithing demo, wood-carving demo, and culinary arts competition round out this showcase of ingenuity. And this year, to complement the theme, a new ice-carving competition was added to the docket.
