Mt. Baker Ski Area will host a free community education event about avalanche safety on December 17. Bring your safety tools (shovel, probe & beacon) and learn how to use them at practice stations.
Mt. Baker got a ton of snow over the holiday weekend, and the world-class ski resort opened its season (all 8 chairlifts!). But if you prefer to get off the manicured slopes and into the backcountry, you need to know a few things about avalanche safety. Fortunately you can learn all about it at Mt. Baker’s Beacon Rally on December 17. See a demonstration, practice at a prepared station, or enter the beacon rescue race to put your rescue skills to the test.
