Whether you prefer to think of it as early-fall or late-summer, September brings several unique events to our city.
September 1 | Pick-Your-Own Apples at BelleWood Acres
The largest U-Pick apple farm in western washington opens its orchard to the public on September 1. But BellaWood Acres does a lot more than apples these days. Between the pumpkin patch, farm market, country cafe, and distillery, you could easily spend a whole saturday exploring the farm.
September 10 | Bellingham Greekfest
Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Church hosts the local greek festival where you’ll find all the usual suspects—music, dancing, kid’s games, tours of this beautiful church, and of course—greek food.
September 12 | Whatcom County Farm Tour
If you spend most of your time in the heart of Bellingham, it’s easy to forget that this is a very productive farming community. The Whatcom County Farm Tour, hosted by Sustainable Connections, is a great way to get out into the fields and see what’s growing.
September 20 | Bite of Bellingham
All of the amazing food from throughout Bellingham turns out for this all-ages event with free admission. Bring the kiddos and sample food from more than 20 local establishments. Don’t leave without casting your vote for “Best Bite.”
September 27 | Bellingham Bay Marathon
After all these food events, we should probably do a little running, so let’s close the month with our local Boston Marathon Qualifier. The marathon course starts on the Lummi peninsula and loops through Fairhaven before finishing downtown at the Depot Market Square.
